Tour the Inn
The Peterson Room
This first floor guest room, in the main house, is across the hall from our parlor. A solid cherry Windsor-style bed covered with a handmade quilt, a decorative fireplace, and a comfortable reading chair give the room a warm friendly atmosphere.
The Mulberry Room
This room's name reflects the 1900 period color chosen for her walls. Many guests feel that this is our most romantic room with its cast-iron canopy bed draped with white organza, decorative fireplace with velvet mantle covers, and fresh flowers.
The Anderson Room
Mrs. Anderson lived for most of her 80-plus years in this house and always kept this room blue. So did we! A bright, sunny room with a cherry canopy bed beautifully draped with a lace net. A pedestal sink in your room provides additional comfort since your private bath is just across the hall. Terry-cloth robes are supplied for the short walk.
The Poet's Room
This is a special quiet room facing south with a large bathroom. In addition to the queen-sized bed, the room is furnished with a large sofa for a quiet read or to add an additional guest.
The Norwottuck Room
This first floor room is named in honor of the Native Americans indigenous to this area of Western Massachusetts. Natural pine wainscotting, exposed hand hune post and beams, and fine wood floors complement a beautiful light cherry queen-sized sleigh bed, antique dressing table and spinning wheel.
The Planter's Room
Named after the early Amherst farmers, this spacious, first floor room is set up in a two twin bed configuration. The room has natural pine floors, beautiful quilts, a desk with a comfortable chair and a quaint, antique shoe repair display. Your bathroom in this guest room is extra large with a wide access.
The Webster Room
This room is named after Noah Webster, who wrote the first half of his dictionary here in Amherst. This first floor room is a large suite that can be used as a family room. It is furnished with two queen size shaker style beds. This is a very quiet room with direct access to the large back yard.
The Carhart Room
This room, named in honor of our friends and neighbors May and Tom Carhart, is one of the most requested rooms at our Inn. It's a large room with many south-facing windows overlooking our extensive lawns. A king size bed, comfortable sofa, worktable, chest of drawers, armoire and gas stove assure comfort and convenience for short and long term stays. The exposed hand hewn beams, erected in 1745, add an historic feel for day or nighttime dreaming.
Uncle Bill's Room
Uncle Bill's room has a king bed, sofa, worktable, closet, refrigerator and a gas stove. It's brightened by the winter sun through many windows overlooking the lawns and shade trees. This is a large, friendly room favored by many of our repeat guests.
The Kelleher Room
The Kelleher room is our largest. This room is part of our Carriage house wing. From the height of the cathedral ceiling to the patina of the pine floorboards, laid in 1875, you'll know you're in for a comfortable stay, unlike any other you could get for miles around. It has a king size bed, sofa, gas stove and, a guest favorite, a 10 jet jacuzzi tub.
